Sixth trial set in Winona murders

AP

WINONA A sixth murder trial has been set for Curtis Flowers, the Montgomery County man accused of killing four people at the Tardy Furniture Store in 1996.

District Attorney Doug Evans told The Daily Star of Grenada the sixth trial, scheduled for June 2010, will take place at the Montgomery County Courthouse. Evans said prosecutors will again seek the death penalty.

Flowers has had three trials in Winona, one in Tupelo and one in Biloxi. Two resulted in mistrials and three in convictions that were later overturned.

Flowers’ fifth trial, in September 2008 in Winona, ended in a mistrial.

Flowers is being held at the Carroll-Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden.
