Head-on crash kills 23-year-old woman

HOLLY SPRINGS — The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a head-on automotive crash that killed a 23-year-old Benton County woman.

Authorities say the crash occurred Saturday in Marshall County at the intersection of U.S. Highway 72 and Mississippi Highway 311.

Marshall County Coroner James Richard Anderson said Alexis Hampton of Ashland was pronounced dead shortly after the 12:50 a.m. crash. A passenger in Hampton’s car was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto with unspecified injuries.

Gregory L. Taylor of Ashland, the driver of the other vehicle, was taken to Baptist with minor injuries.
