Track star's alleged killer guilty of mail fraud

Associated Press

OXFORD The man charged with killing a University of Mississippi track star has pleaded guilty to using a credit card owned by Rodney Lockhart after his death.

Christian Bonner pleaded guilty Monday to eight counts of mail fraud and one count of having a cell phone illegally while being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center.

Bonner has been in jail since his arrest in October 2007. He was indicted that December for the murder of 20-year-old Lockhart, who was a member of the United States’ gold medal 1,600-meter relay team at the 2006 World Junior Championships.

Sentencing on the mail fraud charge has been deferred. A trial date for the murder charge has not been set.
