Vancleave man drowns in Bluff Creek

AP

VANCLEAVE, Miss. A Vancleave man died in an apparent drowning early Wednesday at Bluff Creek, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said.

Byrd said Roger Wade, 52, and an unidentified friend had taken a boat Tuesday to a sandbar to camp overnight. Wade went for a swim around midnight. The friend contacted authorities when Wade failed to return.

No foul play was suspected, though Byrd said an autopsy will be performed.
