Picayune handed homestanding Moss Point its seventh straight loss Tuesday night.
The Maroon Tide (4-9, 4-4) took a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first and cruised to the 7-0 win thanks to the pitching of Peyton Lee in picking up the win in 5A district play.
Kyle Dillard delivered a two run triple in Picayune's first at bat to give the Tide a lead it would never relinquish.
Lee scattered just four hits and struck out eight in the complete game performance. Lige Mims took the loss for the Tigers (4-12, 3-5)
Brady Warden added a two run single in the sixth for Picayune, as the Maroon Tide scored three more runs to seal the win.
Dillard added a single as well as his big triple for Picayune, while Morgan Dragon added a pair of singles to the winning cause. Cooper Esslinger, in his first at bat of the year after getting injured late in the football season, had a pinch-hit single.
The Maroon Tide was coming off a 5-3 loss at Harrison Central on Saturday.
Devin Hedgepeth took the loss, while Mark Wood had a pair of hits in the losing effort and Kyle Dillard chipped in a two run double for the Maroon Tide.
Also on Tuesday night, Poplarville beat visiting Bay High in Region 8-4A play.
J.J. Welch had the game winning single in the seventh for the Hornets. Blake Ladner had three hits including a triple in the winning effort, while Welch had two hits as well. Ashton Miley was the winning pitcher. The Hornets are 3-1 in league play.
The Hornets were coming off an 8-5 loss to Hancock on Saturday on the road. Chandler Ray had three hits for Poplarville, while Drake Hodges drove in a pair of runs. Both Austin Smith and Chance Seals had a double piece for the Hornets.
All three county teams return to action this week in league play. Pearl River Central travels to West Harrison Thursday night, while Picayune heads to Long Beach on Friday and Poplarville travels to Bay High on the same night.
