It’s time to tee it up once again.
High school football players across the state of Mississippi hit the gridiron in an official capacity tonight for the first time, including a pair of local teams.
Pearl River Central and Poplarville both open the season tonight, as the Blue Devils travel to Gulfport and the Hornets head to Raleigh..
The Blue Devils meet the Admirals in the second game of the third annual Shrimp Bowl Classic, and the game should kick off sometime around 8 p.m., at historic Milner Stadium. The contest will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game, which pits Biloxi against Bay High and will begin at 5 p.m.
Pearl River Central will be without a pair of key weapons, in starting quarterback Dylan Spiers and kicking specialist Jovan Detto. Spiers has been suspended for tonight's season-opener and Detto has been suspended for the first four games of the season.
