Pearl River’s Krisjon Wilkerson has been named NJCAA and MACJC ‘Player of the Week’ (March 18-24) after leading the fifth-ranked Wildcats to a 3-1 record last week.
The sophomore to prepped at St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis batted .583 (seven for 12) in four games and bashed two home runs and two doubles for a 1.500 slugging percentage. In addition, Wilkerson accounted for nine RBIs, while scoring six runs of his own. He currently leads NJCAA Division II baseball with eight homers and is tied for first in RBIs with 34.
Also, PRCC infielder Kyle Dolan was named the NJCAA and MACJC ‘Player of the Week’ the previous week.
Pearl River infielder Kyle Dolan has been named the NJCAA and MACJC Player of the Week (March 10-17) his four-for-four, three-RBI performance in the Wildcats’ 10-9 MACJC South Division road loss to Copiah-Lincoln in Wesson March 16. Eighth-ranked PRCC opened the day with 6-4 victory, marking Dolan’s first starting assignment of the 2013 season where he smacked an RBI double. Dolan is a freshman who prepped at Forrest County AHS.
Fifth-ranked Pearl River swept scrappy Southwest Mississippi 8-5 and 2-1 in MACJC South Division baseball action Tuesday in Wildcat Stadium.
Host PRCC improved to 25-9 overall and 8-4 in division play with the wins, while SMCC dropped to 12-20 and 3-9.
Tuesday’s doubleheader was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but moved back one day due to Wednesday’s rainy forecast.
PRCC and SMCC eye a rematch Saturday, April 27, with a 1 p.m. twin bill in Summit that will wrap both teams’ regular season.
Pearl River returns to action Saturday with South Division foe East Central visits for a 1 p.m. doubleheader before division rival Copiah-Lincoln visits Tuesday for a 4 p.m. twin bill.
