Jacob Taylor pitched Picayune past Moss Point Saturday afternoon in the Class 5A South State baseball playoffs.
Taylor tossed a complete game four-hitter, striking out six as the Maroon Tide beat Moss Point 4-1 to end the opening round best-of-three series. Taylor also scored a run and drove in a run in the winning effort.
Picayune trailed 1-0 early, but tied the game with a run in the fourth and took control with a three run fifth to seal the win.
The Maroon Tide is 11-16 on the season, and will travel to Pearl Thursday in quarterfinal action.
