PICAYUNE — Picayune gave Dodd Lee his 200th career win as a head coach Friday night.
Senior tailback Preston Dedeaux ran for 144 yards and four touchdowns in the first half, as Picayune took a 49-0 lead into halftime en route to 56-0 smashing of visiting George County.
The win moves the Maroon Tide to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Region 4-5A play. The Rebels fall to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in league play.
'Someday it'll be fun to look back on this and realize what it meant,' Lee, who is 157-48 in 18 seasons at his alma mater, said. 'But right now we're just worried about winning number 201.'
Dedeaux scored on runs of 11 and 58yards in the first period, and Daveon Green added an 18-yard scoring scamper as Picayune took a 21-0 lead entering the second stanza.
Greene burst loose on a 33-yard touchdown jaunt to open that period, and Deandre Anderson added a 7-yard touchdown run just minutes later to make it 35-0.
Dedeaux ended the first half with scoring runs from 4-yards and 2-yards out, and Jackson Samples was perfect on all seven extra point attempts as the Tide took the commanding lead into halftime.
'We did some good things,' Lee, whose team fell to Pascagoula 31-26 last week, said. 'We worked hard this week, we got back to some fundamentals that we needed to work on.'
With a running clock in the second half, the Maroon Tide added one final score on the first possession of the third frame when Boderick Scott hit Alex Aaron on a 4-yard scoring strike.
Scott finished the night a perfect 6-of6 for 101 yards.
Defensively for Picayune, safety Jerrell Keeton had an interception as well as a key stop on a fourth down play early in the game. Chance Kellar and Sam Hickman each recovered fumbles as well, as the Maroon Tide pitched its first shutout of the season.
Picayune faces two straight league games on the road the next two weeks, heading to West Harrison and then East Central before wrapping up the regular season with a home region game against Stone County.
