Tide wins third straight

By CURTIS ROCKWELL

Item Sports Editor

SLIDELL, La. — After losing three straight games to open the basketball season, Picayune’s Maroon Tide has bounced back with three straight wins.

The lastest victory came Tuesday night on the road against Northshore High 67-55.

Josh Hart paced Picayune with 16 points in the win, while Chris Nixon and Reggie Bailey, both fresh from the gridiron added 11 points and 10 points apiece, repsectively, and Vincent Gable chipped in 10 points as well as head coach Thomas Taylor’s team had four players in double digits.

“We played hard on defense again,” Taylor, in his first year at the helm of the Tide, said. “We had a really balanced attack and our big guys were strong in the post on both offense and defense.”

The Lady Tide didn’t play Tuesday, but both Picayune teams open Region 8-4A play on Tuesday on the road in D’Iberville.
