Tide hires hoops coach

PICAYUNE —  Picayune has a new head boys basketball coach.

The Picayune School Board approved Thomas Taylor as the new coach at its meeting at Noon on Tuesday.

Taylor comes to the Maroon Tide program from Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville, La., where he has been an assistant coach for the past few seasons.

Taylor replaces Daniel Kennedy, who guided the Maroon Tide to the Class 4A state championship game last season. He left last month to take a similar job in Albany, La.
