PRC 10th in state golf tourney

From Staff reports/MS

TUPELO Pearl River Central finished 10th overall in the Class 4A state prep golf tournament which wrapped up Thursday here at Natchez Trace Golf Club despite inclement weather.

The Blue Devils shot an even 700 for the event, as Bull Mixon ended up 80-80-160, Andrew Spiers 88-77-165, Aaron Wolf 93-100-193 and Braxton Spiers 94-88-182 for PRC. Ryan Pope also competed for the Blue Devils.

“It was a good experience for us, especially since we are so young,” PRC head coach Alan Lumpkin said. “Hopefully this will only make us better in the future.”

West Jones won the event with a 626 total.

Poplarville’s Jason Daniels shot an 83-81-164.

The event finished up despite a tornado touching down in Tupelo, less than a mile from where the local players were staying. The final round was delayed for three hours.
