Memorial Services for Allen Duane Wheat, 65, of Henleyfield, Miss., who passed away March 14, 2013 will be held, March 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Henleyfield Community Center.
Services are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
The Rev. Drew Dabbs will officiate at the service.
A native of Picayune, Miss., he was a Machinist and a member of First Baptist Church of Henleyfield. Duane served on the board of Picayune School District for many years. He played an active role in getting the community of Henleyfield noticed. He helped establish and build the Henleyfield Community Center and Little League. He was a charter member of the Henleyfield Fire Department. Duane was very proud of the Picayune School District. He thought the teachers, staff, and students were some of the best in the world and never missed an opportunity to brag on them to whomever he could about their greatness.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Earl Herman Wheat and Alyeen White Wheat; his two brothers, Gary Wheat and Billy Wheat.
Survivors include: his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Fall Wheat; his daughter, Allison Wheat; his son, Jason Wheat and his wife Kristin; his four grandchildren: Lindsey, Kelly, Emily, and Conner; his brother, Jimmy Wheat and his wife Shirley; his two sisters, Sarah Ashe and Lynda Perry and her husband Raymond; numerous nieces and nephews.
