Celebration of Life for Deacon Chester Lee Vaughn, 83, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 in St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, La.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 3:15 p.m. with visitation one hour before service in St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Picayune, Miss.
Deacon Vaughn attended Burnett Community School in Mount Olive, Miss. Chester was a loyal and faithful heavy equipment operator for Huey Stockstill, Brown and Root, and many other companies until his health failed him.
He was a member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, Deacon Board, Trustee Board, Masonic Lodge 562, and attended Sunday School faithfully. As a young man, Deacon Vaughn was a member of a quartet.
Deacon Vaughn was preceded in death by: his mother, Elizabeth Parker Wilson; father, Willis Vaughn; step-father, Robert Chester Wilson; a daughter, Deborah Washington; six sisters, Gladys Wilson Ball, Lucille Chatman, Patricia Washington, Sylvia Vaughn, Carrie Lee Willis, and Carolyn Bulter; and two brothers, Robert and Willis Vaughn.
Those left to cherish his memories are: his loving and devoted wife, Glayds Cagins Vaughn; son, Cordez; daughter, Chearice; children, Chester (Debbie) Vaughn, Jr., Sherlyn (Michael) McSwaine, Gwenetta James, Tina (Geno) Johnson, and Charles (Pricine) Jackson; a super special nephew, Chester “Nunnie” (Susie) Wilson; brothers, Curtis (Dorothy) Vaughn, Tommie (Sharon) Vaughn, Leonard (Ester) Vaughn, and Willie Newson; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters-in-law, Deloris Cagins and Quintella (Frank) Echols; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Burial will be in Parker Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
