A Lifetime of Memories
Charles Ray Stockstill was born into the family of Lavelle W. Stockstill and Lula Spiers Stockstill on March 2, 1930 and passed away in Picayune, Mississippi on Saturday, March 30, 2013.
Charles' earliest memories included attending elementary school at Union School and helping his dad on the farm and with the logging animals. He attended Picayune High School, where he was the bus driver. After completing High School, he served in the U. S. Army in Korea.
Charles married Kay Landry Stockstill and began a lifetime adventure that lasted for 57 years.
Charles and Kay have a loving son, Phillippe Stockstill, and a grandson, Chad Stockstill.
Charles loved the Lord, and was a lifetime member of New Palestine Baptist Church, and served in many different capacities.
Charles was an avid gardener, and he was always willing to share the fruits of his labor. He also cultivated his faith to produce the fruit of the Spirit referred to in Galatians 5:22-23, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.
Charles served on the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors and as Vice President of the Board. He was also President of Nicholson Wood and Aggregates.
He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Lesa Stockstill; his parents, Lavelle and Lula Spiers Stockstill; his brothers, Merle Stockstill, B.F. Stockstill, and L. W. Stockstill, Jr.; and his brothers-in-law, Al Norwood and Charles (Hoppy) Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife, Kay Landry Stockstill; his son, Phillippe Stockstill (Diane); his grandson, Chad Stockstill; his sisters, Nell Norwood, Jo Appleby (Jim) and Jane Powe (Billy); his sisters-in-law, Sybil Stockstill and Ruth Mitchell; and his brothers, Huey Stockstill (Gayle) and the Rev. Wayne Stockstill (Gloria).
Charles is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
He is also survived by many friends, among them very special friends, Ray Burge and Anne Stewart.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at New Palestine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.
