Elaine McDonald Thompson was born October 7, 1956 to the late Woodrow McDonald and Eve Louise Nixon Davis in Carriere, Miss. Elaine confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with New Hebron Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor A.D. Jackson.
She was previously employed at Wal-Mart SuperCenter in Picayune and at East Side Elementary as a cook until her health failed. She touched many people, and never met a stranger. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend, and will be forever missed.
On the morning of April 3, 2013, she was called home to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by: her mother, Eva Louise Nixon-Davis; her father, Woodrow McDonald; three brothers: David K. “D.K.” McDonald, Woodrow “Dub” McDonald, and Edward McDonald.
She leaves to cherish her many memories: two sons, Christopher Deon “Face” “Willie” Nixon-Davis, Sr.; and Justin “Jeffro” “Big Ro” Nixon, Sr., both of Picayune; one daughter, Kawana (Douglas) Furr of Jonesboro, Ga.; her husband, Claude “Pap” Thompson of Oklahoma; one sister, Rose Jean Nunnery of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, David R. “Dave” McDonald, and Melvin Nixon, Sr., both of Picayune, Miss.; three God-daughters, Kimika (Den) Magee of Picayune, Tiambrya Dantzler, and Leticia Jackson, both of Marietta, Ga.; 25 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is also survived by three special friends, Sharon (Mo) Staten, Joyce Ford and Peggy Magee, and a special friend/sister-in-law, Fannie Compton.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 12 noon at New Hebron Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
The Rev. K. Martin Thomas will officiate at the service. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home 601-798-4469.
