Billy Chavers, 85, longtime resident of McNeill, Miss., passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 in Garden Park Medical Center, Gulfport, Miss.
Billy was the seventh of ten children born to Berry Hansford Chavers and Annie Mae Bolding Chavers. He was born and raised in Oak Grove, La.
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents, a great-granddaughter, Briana Alane Dekemel; five brothers, Talmadge (Jewel), Walon (M.A.), Harvey (Irene), W.L. “Bug”, and Lee Edward; and three sisters, Bonnie Toney (Grover), Ruth Phillips (Yancey Ziegler, James Phillips), and Polly Boyte (Felton).
He is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Louise Langley Chavers; daughter, Sharon Chavers Stockstill (Benny); son, Alan Chavers (Lisa); four granddaughters, Melissa Stockstill Dekemel (Billy) of Slidell, La., Brenda Stockstill of McNeill, Rebekah Chavers Light (Josh) of Orlando, Fla., and Bethany Chavers of Hattiesburg, Miss.; two grandsons, Jeff Stockstill of McNeill and Cody Chavers of Orlando; one sister, Emma Lee Chavers Bonner (Virgil "Bud"); two sisters-in-law, Estelle Chavers of Madison, Miss., and Thelma Chavers of Jackson, Miss.; two great-grandsons, Ray and Brady Stockstill; two great-granddaughters, Meagan Dekemel and Channing Light; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held next month in his hometown.
