MENDENHALL, Miss. —

Brother Mitchell Edward Dean was born August 21, 1938 to the late Mae Ella Dean and the late Mitchell Dean in Bassfield, Miss.
Mitch “Sonny Boy” grew up in Picayune, Miss., and attended the public schools. He also attended church as a youth at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church.
Later as a young man, he moved to Baton Rouge, La., and united in marries to Bonnie. This union was blessed with one daughter.
Brother Mitchell Dean was a happy outgoing person who enjoyed sports, and fishing. He seldom met a stranger.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and one sister, Betty Jean Dean.
Mitchell Edward Dean departed this life Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Mendenhall, Miss.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ella Marie Dean of Baton Rouge, La; two sisters, Mary (Frank) Owens of Tallahassee, Fla., and Hattie Mae Smith of Picayune, Miss.; two brothers, Willie C. (Diane) Dean and George (Ruth) Dean, both of Picayune; three grandchildren: Tyrell, Taniyah, and Torrea Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. at East Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Eric Taylor of Tallahassee will officiate at the service, the Rev. Brian K. Dees, is pastor.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church only.
Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery.
