Local residents look back on national tragedy 50 years later
On Friday, Nov. 22, 50 years ago, a man was riding down Dealey Plaza
in Dallas in a motorcade with his wife by his side. At the same time,
another man was preparing his rifle. What would happen next would
become a national tragedy and cement the date of Nov. 22, 1963 in the
memories of U.S. citizens and in history books.
Woman arrested for script fraud
The Picayune Police Department’s Criminial Investigation Division had
been receiving information on a case involving several fraudulent
prescriptions and had been conducting an investigation for the past
several weeks, said Jeremy Magri, assistant to the police chief.
Decorations are patiently waiting to be lighted
These decorations have been put up at Jack Read Park on Goodyear Boulevard and appear to be waiting to be lit up for the Christmas season. The city plans to turn on the lights after Thanksgiving is has passed.
Council okays drainage project
The Picayune City Council approved nearly all the matters included on its agenda Tuesday night, including the last part of the effort to improve drainage around the new portion of City Hall that has suffered some flooding during heavy rains following its completion.
Cell tower location angers resident
The Pearl River County Board of Supervisors heard a complaint from a county resident about Verizon Communications placing a cell phone tower on her property line.
