The Picayune Item
Picayune police were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 59 near mile marker two shortly before noon on Monday.
The driver, identified as Ryan Reed, 36, of 2419 Crane St., Slidell, La., was heading south-bound when he lost control of his vehicle.
Reed ran into the guard wires bordering the interstate median, resulting in the vehicle coming to a rest on top of the guards, said Jeremy Magri, assistant to the chief of police.
The black Ford F-250 pickup truck stopped approximately 150-feet from the point of impact, Magri said.
By the time officers arrived on the scene, passers-by had “busted out a window of the truck to remove Reed,” Magri said. Simultaneously, he said an off-duty paramedic and a volunteer fireman arrived on the scene and saw Reed was “blue in the face with a weak pulse and not breathing.
