In the only race left with more than one candidate, Council Precinct One, have incumbent Larry E. Watkins and Tammy Valente meeting in the second primary election today.
“It has been an awesome experience meeting everyone in precinct one,” Valente said. “I hope that everyone will take the time to go vote.”
Watkins denied to comment and said, “Probably after it’s (the runoff) over with.”
Except for precinct one, all council races were decided on Tuesday, May, 7.
Tammy Valente led incumbent Larry Watkins in the first primary.
The votes in the primary were, Valente with 182 votes, and Watkins with 168 votes.
The city-wide voter turnout was 18.34 percent with 1,445 total votes cast.
The general election is June 4, when incumbent Mayor Ed Pinero will face Democratic challenger Mark Thorman.
Pinero had 931 votes and Democratic challenger Thorman had 240 votes in their respective primaries on May 7, though they had no primary opposition.
Voting precincts are in the same locations.
