A pick-up truck stolen in Picayune on Thursday was recovered on Saturday in Harrison County.
Picayune police officers received a call from dispatch in reference to a stolen vehicle on Thursday night.
The owner of the vehicle, a 2006 black Ford F-250 pick-up truck, had left his vehicle parked behind First National Bank on E. Canal Street at approximately 4 p.m. that afternoon, Assistant to the Chief of Police Jeremy Magri said.
Picayune police listed the vehicle as stolen on the National Crime Information Center, Magri said.
“On Saturday, at 3:30 p.m., the department was notified by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office that they had recovered the truck,” he said.
Harrison County deputies said that they arrested Jason Eugene Conaway, 24, of Gulfport, and his passenger, Miranda Lynn Johnson, 26, of Saucier, for possession of stolen property, said Magri.
Conaway and Johnson both had charges signed on them by the Picayune Police Department for grand larceny auto.
A hold has been placed on both suspects by Picayune Police Department, he said.
Each suspect’s bond has been set at $30,000 for receiving stolen property and motor vehicle theft, according to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office website.
The Sun Herald reported that “Conaway was on probation for conviction of grand larceny, possession of precursors used to manufacture meth, possession of synthetic narcotics and burglary.”
“The truck was recovered by Cotton Towing,” Magri said, and it is in the process of being released back to the owner.
