Investigators received another tip in the case building against Chad Cruz for a spree of residential burglaries he’s accused of conducting.
Cruz, 37, of 506 Caesar Rd., now faces a fourth count of residential burglary in a case that appears not to be associated just with people he knew who attended church, said Maj. Donnie Saucier with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.
Saucier said the most recent victim to come forward called the department on Feb. 5, after hearing of his arrest to say she too suspected Cruz was responsible for a burglary that occurred a few months prior. This new victim also knew Cruz, said Saucier. The case of her burglary was reopened, and using information from the other cases investigators, were able to establish Cruz as a suspect in her burglary as well, Saucier said.
While this victim also knew Cruz, this incident was different from the rest in that the burglary did not occur on a Sunday while the victim was at church, leading investigators to suspect that Cruz could be responsible for burglaries that occurred on days other than Sundays.
“I feel safe in saying that we believe Cruz is a serial burglar who has been victimizing people that he knew,” Saucier said.
Saucier asks anyone who may have had contact with Cruz and was the victim of a residential burglary to call the Sheriff’s Department at 601-403-2544 and speak with Detective Chris Wagner.
