The Picayune Item
(EDITOR’S NOTE: Richard Carriere has announced his candidacy and released this statement.)
Hi, my name is Richard Carriere. I am a father, businessman, and a concerned citizen running for city council Dist. 1. My wife Kerrie and I moved to Picayune 16 years ago, where we raise our two children, Savannah and Dylan. As a family we are proud to call Picayune home.
I am a graduate of Saint Stanislaus High School, have been a student at Pearl River Community College, and possess several certifications in renewable energy. As a strong believer in giving back to the community, I am an active member of the Picayune Lions Club.
Picayune requires council members who serve with the goal of reaching light at the end of the tunnel, instead of stopping in the middle.
My priorities are:
— Continued improvement of the Picayune School District; we must empower our students, teachers, and administration to move from a barely adequate education to a superior facility and experience. Our students deserve a nationally ranked school, like our neighbors in Poplarville.
— Establish a bipartisan committee, overlooking all utility companies, including water, sewer, gas, and electric.
— Begin a monthly meeting with constituents of Dist. 1 to enhance public involvement and extend citizens voices at all city council meetings. Develop a blog as a method for citizens to communicate before and after elections.
— Improve and support city maintenance scheduling and priorities.
— Assist civil service departments with support and essentials needed to properly perform duties.
Please consider Richard Carriere city council Dist. 1 Change we need, voice you deserve. Feel free to contact me at: email@example.com or my blog richardcarriere.simplesite.com.
