During a Saturday afternoon rainstorm, 440 Coast Electric customers lost power for three hours due to a car hitting an electric pole on Rock Ranch Road, said April Lollar, a representative for Coast Electric.
Lollar said crews had to replace the pole, which was why the power was out from about 1-4 p.m.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department received the call about the accident at 1:03 p.m., said Chief Deputy Shane Tucker.
The driver of a 2005 Nissan truck lost control as he was heading into a curve and stuck the pole on Rock Ranch Road near Lake David Drive, Tucker said.
The pole was broken at the top and bottom, which led Coast Electric to replace the pole.
No injuries were reported or citations issued, Tucker said.
