A Picayune man, Russell Frierson Sr., 62, has been arrested for molesting a 10-year-old girl.
On June 21, a complaint was filed at the Picayune Police Department regarding child molestation, said Jeremy Magri, assistant to the chief of police.
“The mother stated that she had learned from her daughter that Frierson had fondled her breasts on several occasions,” Magri said.
The Picayune Police Department’s Investigations Division and the Department of Human Services (DHS) were contacted, Magri said.
“An investigation was conducted,” Magri said, “and an arrest warrant was issued against Frierson for touching a child for lustful purposes.”
Officers went to Frierson’s residence at 414 E. Canal St., in an attempt to take him into custody, said Magri.
“Officers knocked on the door of the residence for several minutes attempting to make contact with Frierson,” he said. “He would not come to the door.”
While at the residence, “an officer observed Frierson looking out of the living room window,” Magri said. Officers then noticed Frierson crawling down the hallway towards the rear of the residence, Magri said.
“Officers knocked loudly and announced themselves,” he said. “They then said, ‘We have a warrant for your arrest, please exit the residence.’”
Frierson refused to come outside, said Magri.
Officers made a forced entry into the home and were able to take him into custody.
Frierson was transported to the Criminal Justice Center and booked for touching a child for lustful purposes, said Magri. He has since been released on a $15,000 bond, Magri said.
