Deputies make routine drug arrests

PICAYUNE — Two recent arrests by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department both involved methamphetamine.

Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier said the first incident took place on Thanksgiving day when investigators were tipped off to some possible drug activity. They investigated the information, taking them to the area of Cecil Smith Road.

The investigation led them to the door of Leroy R. Wallace, 36, 67 Cecil Smith Rd., Saucier said. As the investigators knocked on the door, they noticed what appeared to be a burned marijuana cigarette on a trash can by the door. No one was home at the time but the contraband found at the door enabled them to get a probable cause warrant

Once the warrant was secured, the residence searched, Saucier said. During the search, the investigators found evidence of several alleged methamphetamine cooks and precursor chemicals. Hazmat was called out to the clean the area.

The two residents of the home, Wallace and Tori Garrott, 31, are still at large and both are wanted for possession of precursor chemicals and manufacture of a controlled substance.

On Monday, a complaint of a strange individual in the woods behind a man’s home brought deputies to 60 B. Charlie Kellar Rd. As deputy Kimball Farmer checked the wood line for the alleged suspicious person, he saw a burn pile on the property that appeared to contain remnants of substances known to be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, Saucier said.

Narcotics Investigator Rob Williams was called out to the scene and was able to confirm that there were substances on site used in the manufacture of the drug. Consent to search the residence was secured and several items known to be used in the manufacture of the drug were found in the home.

Two suspects were home at the time of the search, James Brooks Hebert, 28, and Kim Huck, 33, and were taken into custody and charged with manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of precursor chemicals, Saucier said. The third resident of the home, Jason L. Stockstill, 36, was not home at the time of the search but was picked up Wednesday afternoon and charged with manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of precursor chemicals.
