7 construction workers injured in collapse

Associated Press

MERIDIAN Seven men working on a construction crew were injured when the second level floor of a structure collapsed in Meridian.

One of the workers was pinned under the debris Monday. The pinned victim and another man, who worked for Yates Construction Company in charge of the work site, were transported to a Meridian hospital to be treated with what was categorized as non-life threatening injuries. The other five men were treated at the scene for cuts and bruises.

The collapse occurred at the Anderson Regional Medical Center Medical Towers construction project.

Fire Chief Jeff Homan said information he was given indicated the collapse occurred as concrete was being poured for the second level.
