Bomb suspect to face charges in federal court

By Jeremy Pittari
Item Staff Writer

PICAYUNE A suspect alleged to be in possession of a homemade bomb will face felony charges in federal court in Gulfport early in December.

About four months ago, 23 year-old Salvatore Adams was arrested for allegedly possessing an incendiary device. Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Resident Agent in Charge Joel Lee said Adams has a court date set for Dec. 7 at the federal courthouse in Gulfport.

Lee said Adams is facing charges of unlawful possession of an incendiary device.

“That’s a felony charge,” Lee said.

If convicted, Adams could face as much as 10 years in jail.

Lee would not comment on the particulars of the case but did say the device found at the home on July 18, was homemade, possibly by Adams. Lee also would not comment on what Adams was allegedly going to use the device for.

“We want it to be a fair trial,” Lee said.

The bomb was found when Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department personnel were directed to the bomb inside the garage of a home located in the 1700 block of Ceasar Road while responding to a domestic dispute call at the residence. Sheriff Department investigators, the Biloxi Bomb Squad and ATF agents were all called out to process the scene.

Adams was initially held on a domestic violence warrant, and later was charged by ATF with possession of the bomb.
