Chamber Banquet to host more people

By Jeremy Pittari
Item Staff Writer

PICAYUNE The Picayune Chamber of Commerce is inviting the general public to attend its annual awards banquet.

This year the banquet will be held at a larger venue, enabling it to handle about twice as many people, said Picayune Chamber of Commerce Director April Parsons.

Tickets cost $30 per person and the event will be held on the second floor oft the recently constructed Link at the First Baptist Church of Picayune on Goodyear Boulevard. The event will be held Nov. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Previous banquets usually hosted between 150 to 200 people. Parsons said the new location will be able to cater to about 300, if necessary.

“So no one will be turned away this year,” Parsons said.

Like every year, the banquet will honor this year’s volunteer, citizen and civic club of the year. The speaker for this year’s event will be State Treasurer Tate Reeves.

Parsons asks everyone who is interested in purchasing a ticket should do so before Nov. 9. Tickets can be purchased at the Picayune Chamber of Commerce at 201 U.S. Highway 11 North, or by calling the office at 601-798-3122.

Pictures will be taken at the door for later purchase as well as candid shots during the event, Parsons said.
