John "John Boy" Frierson dies in prison cell

PICAYUNE In February 1991, a Pearl River County Grand Jury indicted John Frierson on four counts of capital murder. The trial commenced in August 1991, in Adams County, Mississipi, and on August 16, 1991, the jury found John Frierson guilty on all four counts. The Court then sentenced Frierson to life in the custody of the Mississipi Department of Corrections on all four counts each count to run consecutive to the other. According to a press release from the District Attorneys Office, on May 27, 2008, Frierson died in his prison cell. His immediate cause of death was asphyxia due to or as a consequence of hanging.
