Natchez Fall Pilgrimage begins

Associated Press

Natchez The Natchez Fall Pilgrimage has begun with an updated roster of antebellum mansions for the first time in recent years.

The Fall Pilgrimage began in 1977, a younger sister to the older Spring Pilgrimage, which began in 1932. Saturday marked the first day of the 2008 Fall Pilgrimage Tour season.

In recent months, several houses were taken off and added to the roster of homes on the tour. Of the newest homes on tour, the Rip Rap house made its Pilgrimage debut Saturday. The home’s owners, Richard and Brenda Edgin, were greeting guests as they passed through the house.

Brenda Edgin gave tour groups a brief history of the house.

The Fall Pilgrimage ends on Oct. 11.
