People who may need money, medicine or need to take care of government business should do so before July 4 or they might have to wait a few extra days.
Local banks will be closed Saturday for the holiday. Some banks are typically closed on Saturday, such as Regions and The First. Other banks that are usually open on Saturdays for half a day will be closed in observance of the holiday. Those banks include Bank Plus, First National, and Hancock. Keesler Federal Credit Union will also be closed Saturday.
Since county and city offices are typically closed on Saturday they will close Monday in observance of the Fourth of July, said County Administrator Adrain Lumpkin and Picayune City Manager Harvey Miller. Miller said city offices will also be closed Friday due to their current four-day work week.
Three pharmacies will be open on the Fourth of July, CVS from 12 to 6 p.m.; Rite Aid from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Walgreens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. City Rexall, Medical Center Pharmacy and Picayune Drug in Picayune will all be closed. In Poplarville Boones Pharmacy and Pearl River Drug will both be closed Saturday.
