Man arrested after wife shot

PICAYUNE A Picayune woman was shot in the back with a shot gun allegedly during altercation with her husband.

The incident took place Wednesday at about 8:50 p.m. at 1122 Jackson Landing Rd., according to a press release from the Picayune Police Department.

The initial call concerned a fallen person, but when EMTs arrived on scene they found Sheila Billiot had been shot in the back with a shotgun. The release states the shooting took place during an altercation with her husband Brunson Billiot. The ambulance responders notified the police department of the shooting and officers were sent out.

Sheila Billiot was airlifted to Forrest General Hospital where she under went surgery for her wounds, the release states.

Brunson Billiot, 36, was charged with domestic violence/aggravated assault.

The release states that Sheila Billiot is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
