Democratic challenger Ronnie Musgrove says he wants to have a series of debates with Republican incumbent Roger Wicker this year.
The two men are running for a U.S. Senate seat.
Musgrove is proposing town hall meetings in July, August, September and October.
He and Wicker will be on the general election ballot in early November.
Musgrove was governor from January 2000 to January 2004.
Wicker served in the U.S. House from January 1995 until this past December. That’s when Republican Gov. Haley Barbour appointed him to the Senate after Trent Lott resigned to become a lobbyist.
Wicker and Musgrove are competing to serve the final four years of the six-year term that Lott started.
