58 Miss. swine flu cases reported

JACKSON — The Mississippi Department of Health says the state’s total number of swine flu cases is 58.

Swine flu cases have been reported in Harrison (18), Jackson (14), Hinds (4), Holmes (3), Forrest (3), Lamar (3), Jones (2), Lauderdale (2), Lowndes (2), Rankin (2), Yazoo (2), DeSoto (1), Madison (1) and Union (1) counties.

Mississippi has reported no swine flu deaths.

Health officials say swine flu responds well to anti-viral medications, but children, the elderly, pregnant women and the chronically ill may be at higher risk for complications.
