Utility Authority meets

BY Jeremy Pittari
Item Staff Writer

PICAYUNE Pearl River County’s Utility Authority took care of some routine business after the utility rate fee public hearing Thursday.

In the meeting the board members of the Utility Authority approved two contract changes to ongoing work with the North Pearl River County water project. One of the contract changes was with Griner Drilling Services and the other was with Hemphill Construction, said president Steve Lawler.

Recently the City of Picayune approved to enter into a contract for the supply of water with the Utility Authority should they ever need it in an emergency. The Utility Authority board acknowledged that agreement.

The board also discussed public comments brought up in the public hearing concerning rate changes for sewer services. They agreed that some wording changes were in order to make the fees schedule easier to understand, Lawler said.

In the final piece of business the board authorized Lawler to sign contracts for appraisal services with Cecil Ray Johnson and review appraisal services with Brent Holston, Lawler said.

The next meeting of the Utility Authority will be 2 p.m. June 4, at the Picayune city hall council chambers.
