The Puttin’ on the Pink Foundation announced it will hold its annual Puttin’ on the Pink Gala on Saturday, October 5 at 7 p.m., at Southern Char Steak House.
Music will be provided by Harvey Jesus & Fire. Cost per ticket is $50 and includes dinner, band and one glass of wine.
This year’s theme will be “Wine and Roses;” dress is semi-formal to formal.
The gala is the primary annual fundraiser for the foundation which assists women who fall in the gap of those who have neither private insurance nor government health benefits by providing vouchers to local physicians to distribute for mammograms. These are women who without some type of health benefits do not have access to the exams and because of this go without early detection.
“This leaves them facing diagnosis at a later stage of cancer progression, with less hope of successful treatment,” said Gala Chair and Foundation President Abbie Turnage.
Turnage, lead mammographer at Highland Community Hospital, has a a passion for helping women in Pearl River County and has parlayed this into the Puttin’ on the Pink Foundation with the help of her husband James and a group of graduates from the 2012 Partners for Pearl River County Leadership Class.
“We have truly helped many women in the county through these events. We surpassed all hopes and expectations from the first gala, two years ago,” said Turnage. “This year’s fundraising gala will be our best one yet. We encourage local businesses to donate to our silent auction. We encourage the community to come out and enjoy a fun evening while we celebrate survivors and proactively address this potentially fatal disease.”
