The Picayune Item
PICAYUNE — Item staff reports Picayune Main Street’s biannual Street Fair is set for April 6 and 7, and it will feature all the items visitors have come to expect, funnel cakes, fun jumps, handmade items for sale and as always, a good time. Picayune Main Street Manager Lauri Stockstill said the attractions that have become regulars at the event will be available, including the train rides, antique vendors, handcrafted jewelry and of course, live entertainment. Many items will be offered for sale by vendors, including live plants, oil paintings, yard art, bird houses, handcrafted jewelry, antique furniture, handmade candles of many varieties, soaps, sand art, pottery, iron works for the yard and garden, and quilts, Stockstill said. Live acts have been scheduled, but there are some spots still open, Stockstill said. Booked acts include Piney Woods Cloggers, Pistols and Petticoats, Picayune Pickers, Damascus Road, Zumba demonstration, martial arts demonstrations and Center Stage School of Dance. Picayune Main Street President Bill Edwards said, “Everyone has been working very hard to ensure this is the best Street Fair yet. We are offering new things and look to have high participation from both vendors and community members.” Vendors will open each day at 8 a.m. and close up shop at 5 p.m.
