The Picayune Item
PICAYUNE — Picayune On Stage will be presenting “The Ladies of Harmony” by Ron Hill at two different venues. A dinner theater production at the Hide-A-Way Lake Lodge (HAWL) will be April 12, and 13, at 6:30 p.m. Encore performances will be held at the theater located at 322 E. Canal Street on April 19, and 20, at 8 p.m. and on April 21, at 2 p.m. Under the direction of Gladys Hughes, we find six ladies who have met at Harmony Church Fellowship Hall to prepare a funeral dinner for a man they all dislike. They are sure that the feeling is mutual and that not many will be at the service and luncheon. While preparing for the event, the ladies — Bonnie Hughes, Tara Poolson, Becky Highnote, Donna Aguilard, Jessica Lacour, and Gladys Hughes — drink coffee and eat donuts while gossiping on a variety of subjects. The biggest shock comes the next day when an unexpected large crowd of mourners arrive for the funeral dinner and the ladies have to endure some embarrassing moments. The play will give viewers plenty of laughs as these experienced actors take the stage. For reservations for the dinner theater, HAWL residents call 601-798-1484. For residents outside of HAWL, call Bonnie Hughes at 601-799-1714. The price is $33 - which includes the dinner, the show, gratuities, and tax. Reservations for the Picayune On Stage Theater can be made by calling 601-749-5551. This production will be the last show at the little theater on E. Canal Street. There will be other productions in the future at various venues.
