Citizens of Picayune deserve resonsible elected officials

Recent Picayune Item headlines from May 20th and 21st glaringly point out the indecisive and feckless governing ability of our present city council and administration. “City short $850K in most recent audit,” and “Council again delays smoking ordinance” are two examples of the ineptitude or at worse, negligence of our elected officials.

We can at least be thankful the Utility Department has not lost another million dollars. In addition I can point out the inconvenient (or was it convenient?) scheduling of a council meeting to conflict with the candidate forum. Citizens of Picayune deserve better.

We need responsible elected officials capable of making decisions that benefit our community. Let us also hope and pray the incoming mayor and council members are better stewards with our taxpayer dollars.
