This park on Goodyear Boulevard near Fireman’s Credit Union was dedicated in the memory of Pat Blades by the Picayune Kiwanis Club. Blades gave his all to the local Special Olympics and as assistant coach with the Picayune school district. Kiwanis member Bill Stegall said Blades always gave his all at the Special Olympics. Head Football Coach Dodd Lee said Blades was a genuine and fun person to be around and was an assistant coach until his passing. The Kiwanis Club’s focus is making things happen for children and adults by holding the Special Olympics each year, said member Derek Turnage.
