The donations were made on the last Wednesday in January.

Jennifer Seal, president of the Rotary Club said with January being Children’s Health Month, club members reached out to the local school system to determine items the school required most.

“They said there is always a need for socks and underwear at the school,” Seal said.

Seal also said that school representatives said there is a need for eyeglasses amongst the students who either lost or broke their eyewear and were without the resources to purchase a new pair.

Stephanie Joyner, a manager at Poplarville Eye Clinic, said she has seen instances where children were without glasses because their family’s insurance providers did not cover it.

Joyner said the clinic is in the process of having the vouchers printed. Each qualifying child will receive two vouchers worth $50, one for the eye exam and the other to purchase a basic frame with uncoated lens.

Seal said members of the Rotary Club are always looking for opportunities to reach out to the community and help those in need.
