Joyce Ballaron Palmer Hopkins entered into eternal rest on the evening of July 27, 2016 at the age of 74.  She was born in New Orleans, La. on October 19, 1941. She was the only child of the late Frances Manale Ballaron and the late Oscar Manuel Ballaron. Joyce and her husband, Richard B. Hopkins retired to Carriere, Miss. in 1998 to live the good life.
She is survived by her two children, Jessica Palmer Berlier (Richard) of Slidell, La., Eldon A. Palmer (Kacey) of Covington, La., stepdaughter, Rhonda Hopkins Vernet, of Los Angeles, Calif. and her grandchildren, Jordan Lynn Berlier, Richard Berlier III, Steven Vernet and Nicholas Vernet, and her cousins:  Frances Easterling, Henry Calongne, Gary Calongne, Denise Falcone and Ralph Crowley.
She was a devoted Catholic and attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Picayune and St. Joseph’s in Poplarville. She was a vital part of the Anchor Lake community and welcoming committee. She assisted whenever she could in her community.  She will forever be missed.
We are grateful to the trauma surgeons, ICU nurses, doctors and staff of Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss. for their attentive and compassionate care.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend her memorial services.
Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church located at 1000 Goodyear Boulevard, Picayune, Miss.
Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 2618 Highway 43 South in Picayune, Miss.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of one’s choice.
