Donning pink for a worthwhile cause

There are many expenses involved when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer.
Even with health insurance, the out-of-pocket expenses can reach staggering amount for a family trying to make ends meet and still receive top-notch medial care for their loved one.
However, there is help in Pearl River County, Puttin’ on the Pink.
Each year, the group raises money to provide support for local residents battling breast cancer.
They bridge the gap for people who have no insurance or who have medical expenses health insurance doesn’t cover.
Mammograms are important for early detection and the group helps women receive these tests.
The group also provides gas cards to help cover travel expenses.
We applaud the efforts put forth by this compassionate group of volunteers.
Not only are they helping breast cancer victims and survivors, but also the family members who witness and fight alongside their loved ones during their battle with this frightening disease.
In a world where some families live from paycheck to paycheck, a medical trauma has the ability to financially cripple them.
Not only do we thank the members of Puttin’ on the Pink, but also local donors, who dip into their own pockets to give to a worthwhile cause.
This weekend, you have the chance to pay it forward.
The group is hosting their fall fundraiser at the Barn at Sarah Bella at 48 Flat Top Road.
Tickets cost $35 and are available for purchase at Bre’s Clothing and Accessories at 113 West Canal and the Greater Picayune Area Chamber of Commerce at 201 Highway 11 or through the group’s Facebook page.
You can also purchase pink T-shirts for $15.
If you are able to donate to this cause, we recommend you do so. Anything is appreciated and will bring comfort to many.
