New club for the love of Mustangs

Poplarville residents Mike Levy and Monroe Bethea share a common love of classic and modern cars, specifically the Ford Mustang.
As a result, the pair decided to start a club for Mustang lovers in Pearl River County.
Levy, a New Orleans native, and his wife Barbara moved to Poplarville in 1999. Levy, the owner of a wholesale nursery, said his wife is also an admirer of classic Mustangs.
“A couple of years ago, my wife and I attended Mustang week in Myrtle Beach, Fla. where there were more than 5,000 cars to view,” Levy said. “For our 25th anniversary we purchased a 2013 limited edition Mustang Club of America convertible.”
Levy said Barbara prefers the older models, while he enjoys the newer ones.
Levy and Bethea decided to start a Mustang club after they noticed a large number of Mustangs on the streets of Poplarville, Levy said.
Levy and Bethea are both members of the Mississippi Mustang Club and the Mustang Club of America.
They frequently bring cars to events such as Cruisin the Coast, Levy said.
The pair plans to host meetings the second Friday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Poplarville City Park.
“We welcome anyone in the county to come and join,” Levy said. “It’s an American tradition to own a Mustang. We want to have a group of people get together to have fun, go cruising and discuss similar interests.”
