Five-years ago, Matty Jo McNeill Fox and her husband Johnny built a community gazebo for the purpose of bringing their small community together for fellowship with one another.
When people travel along Hwy. 11 N. and glance to the left in downtown McNeill, they will catch a glimpse of the “Town Hall” gazebo.
According to Matty, this was once the site of the former McNeill post office, which was owned by her grandmother, Jodie McNeill. The town was named after her grandfather, Daniel.
Years later, the Foxes inherited the site and decided to build the gazebo, with the help of many local volunteers.
“The local men gather for coffee in the mornings,” Matty said. “The gazebo has been home to community fish fries, barbeques and ice cream making.”
Each year, the gazebo is decorated to correspond to the season and holiday.

“We are such a small and little community and my husband and I wanted to create a space for everyone to gather,” Matty said.
The gazebo is located on Hwy. 11 in McNe
