Sam Greer Holston, 49, of Long Beach, passed away on September 18, 2014.

Long Beach, Miss. He was a 1983 graduate of Poplarville High School and a 1988 graduate of the University of Mississippi. Mr. Holston was employed by the Beau Rivage Casino and Resort as a table games dealer. He was one of the original founding employees of the casino.

He enjoyed golfing with his son and son-in-law, as well as vacationing with his wife and daughter. He liked to fish and cheer for the St. Stanislaus Rock-A-Chaws and Ole Miss Rebels. Sam was an enthusiastic Saints fan and a trivia and history buff. He enjoyed spoiling “Chibbie.”

He is preceded in death by his father, John Curtis Holston, Jr, his maternal grandparents, Sam and Bernice Banks Greer, and his paternal grandparents, Curtis and Verna Amacker Holston.

Survivors include his wife, Camala Caruso Holston, daughter, Olivia (Michael) Lindsey, and son Sam “Greer” Holston, II, his mother Virginia “Ginger” Greer Holston, sister Victoria “Vickie” (Joe) Polk, brother, John Curtis “Johnny” (Rhonda) Holston, his cherished aunt, Theta “CheChe” Holston Egnew, as well as his in-laws, Conrad and Merline Abadie Caruso.

He will be deeply missed by his large and loving family that includes his aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, 6 nieces, 9 nephews, 1great-niece and 1great-nephew who will forever miss his wit.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS 39560. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd., Long Beach, MS, where friends may visit from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Interment will be at 4 p.m. in the Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery, Poplarville.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials for educational purposes in Honor and Memory of Sam Holston to St. Stanislaus College, 304 S Beach Blvd, Bay St. Louis, MS 39520, ATTN: Sam Holston Memorial.
