Tuesday night, one or more unknown suspects allegedly broke into a Picayune business and took a number of electronics.

Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief of Police Jeremy Magri said officers were dispatched to Verizon Wireless at 1401 Armond Dr. on August 6 in reference to a commercial burglary.

Officers spoke with the store manager who stated that at 8:25 a.m., he discovered the glass on the front door was broken.

Magri said officers on scene entered the building to make sure it was clear.

The suspect had already left the scene, Magri said.

Detectives arrived soon thereafter to process and photograph the crime scene.

“After detectives processed the scene, the store manager conducted an inventory and discovered that some iPhone 5s, android tablets and phone and tablet accessories were stolen,” Magri said.

Magri said through further investigation, law enforcement officials learned that two Hattiesburg area Verizon stores were burglarized between the close of business Tuesday evening and opening Wednesday morning.

“It is unknown at this time if these incidents are related,” Magri said. “Detectives are following all leads.”
