A jury found 86-year-old Carriere resident James Allen Myers guilty of seven counts of possession of child porn on Wednesday.

The case was heard by the United States District Court of the Southern District of Mississippi Southern Division, according to court records.

The indictment filed with the court states that the first charge relates to an act conducted on May 1 of last year where Myers knowingly transported visual depictions of a minor engaged in sexual conduct via a computer.

The other six counts stated he possessed similar content stored on CDs, hard drives, and a laptop computer, according to the indictment.

As a result of his arrest, 364 CDs and DVDs, 12 memory cards, a computer tablet, laptop, six thumb drives, an external hard drive and 74 video cassette tapes, among other items, were seized from Myers’ possession.

A previous story in the Item stated he intended to plea to the charges, but according to court records he never did.

He was arrested in October of last year after he fled to South Carolina in order to avoid being arrested, stated the previous Item story.

The previous story also states that some of the pictures found in his possession included images of the 3 or 4-year-old child of a family he used to live with in Florida in 2008.

When he didn’t plea as he said he would, the court held a jury trial this week where the members of that jury found him guilty on all seven charges.

He faces up to ten years for each charge. Myers will receive his sentence in November.
